Day 049 - 09 Nov 94 - Page 39

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, I think so. I think so.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is there any reason why Ms. Steel and
Mr. Morris should not borrow it, not just at large, but if
they ask for a loan of it from time to time?

MR. RAMPTON: I think I may be able to locate a rather less
fragile copy of it, in which case we will make that
available as required, not on a permanent basis. The point
being this in part at least, that the film is not itself
evidence of anything except what Ms. Gallatley has been
       showing school children.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I think you should do is, when you want
to borrow a copy for a period of time, ask for it.

MR. MORRIS: Well, I do not understand how, if the Plaintiffs
are showing a document to the court, that they are not
providing it to both yourself and the other party.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That may or may not be right in principle.
Quite frankly, I do not think we have to worry about
whether it is right in principle because whenever you want
to see it for a purpose or discuss it with a witness or
think what you are going to say to me about it later, ask
Mrs. Brinley-Codd or Mr. Hill, and you will be lent it. I
would not have thought you would need a copy for now in
       order to conduct your case.

                      Re-examined by the DEFENDANTS

MR. MORRIS: Is that a film about McDonald's?
       A. No, of course it is not.

  Q. Does that film mention McDonald's in it?
       A. No.

  Q. Did that film mention Wimpy in it, do you remember?
       A. I cannot remember.

MR. MORRIS: Well, I think it did mention Wimpy.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It said "a Wimpy" or "a Big Mac", or
       something like that, yes.

MR. MORRIS: So was that film about any one particular----
       A. No. It was about the general situation in Europe,
really, and, in some cases, the rest of the world. It was
       just the general situation.

  Q. In that film, do you remember where the Big Mac came up?
       A. To be honest, I cannot remember what exactly was
       preceding it.

MR. MORRIS: If I was to say that I thought it was associated
with the problem with animal feed and the causes of hunger,
would you agree or disagree, or not remember?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have to try and phrase it in a rather
different way: "If it is not about McDonald's, what is it
