burger chain has ever been raised in school talks", what,
never ever, for any reason at all, or just for some----
       A. No, never. No other burger chain has ever been
mentioned at all. It just does not seem to figure in their
psyche. The reason that McDonald's was mentioned the most
anyway with the teenagers was the fact that they were
worried that they would not be able to go to McDonald's if
they were a vegetarian. That is mainly the reason why
McDonald's came up at all, anyway; and no other burger
chain was mentioned in that context.

  Q. In that context?
       A. Or any context.

  Q. That you can remember?
       A. That I can remember, no. Burger chains would not
       generally get mentioned otherwise, anyway.

  Q. Nobody ever mentioned Burger King?
       A. No.

  Q. The last question is: are you only concerned about what you
have been talking about because you are a vegetarian, or
are there more concerns that you have?
       A. My concerns, as far as the children wanting McDonald's,
McDonald's and more McDonald's, are several. I mean, one,
because I do not think it is healthy for children to become
part of this junk food culture -- because, from what I have
read, 50 percent of British children do have a junk food
diet. I think that is, you know, the worst start in life
       that they can have.

I also do not think that an organisation that, you know,
kills on a huge scale is a good thing to be promoting to
children, and all the implications of that, all the
       environmental implications of that.

  MS. STEEL: No further questions.

  MR. MORRIS: No further questions.

                     Cross-examined by MR. RAMPTON QC.

MR. RAMPTON: Ms. Gallatley, I notice from your statement that
you have a BSc and a diploma in DM. What is DM?
       A. Direct Marketing.

  Q. Your BSc was, therefore, for business management, or
       something like that?
       A. No. That is a Bachelor of Science.

  Q. Yes, I know, but what in?
       A. Zoology and psychology.

  Q. Do you have any practical experience of marketing and
advertising beyond what you have told us today?
       A. In my work I do, yes.

  Q. What work is that?
       A. Well, when I worked at The Vegetarian Society, I was
