Day 048 - 08 Nov 94 - Page 47

is taken a long time to----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You must not assume that it is time wasted,
because we just do not know what, at the end of the day --
I may share your view, I may take another view.

I think it can really be done -- and that is what I am
urging you to do -- in a series of bigger leaps rather than
       little steps.

But let us go back to your previous question, so that we do
       not lose sight of that.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness) While we are on this general
subject, can I have an answer to that question?
       A. Give or take a few pounds, £256,000.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Each week it is on?
       A. No, no, no -- for the whole broadcast period. I think
that is -- I think it might be a 13 week series, and I
think that money may also cover us for a repeat of that.
But it is certainly for the whole year that it is showing,
the whole period of the year that it is showing.

MS. STEEL: How many times would that be shown in a year?
       A. I think -- that is why I say I think it is a 13 week
       series.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: And there may be a repeat, you say?
       A. I think it goes out once a week for 13 weeks, and than
I think we get a repeat of that; I am not sure.

MS. STEEL: Over the two year period -- you said it has been
       running for two years?
       A. Yes. We sponsored it last year for the first time.

  Q. So it would not be one payment for all of both those years?
       A. It would be, in effect, for the year, £256,000 a year.

MR. MORRIS: If we can just collect our thoughts and move on to
       something else?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, do. Just sit down. (Pause)

MS. STEEL: One of the advertisements that was shown in the
adults advertisements had a line where somebody said: "You
haven't lived if you haven't been to McDonald's." Do you
       remember that?
       A. I remember the commercial. I cannot remember if that
       is the exact line.

MS. STEEL: I think the grandmother says her granddaughter has
said: "You haven't lived if you haven't been to
       McDonald's."

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is the child who said something like that,
because Grandma had not been to McDonald's, it turned out.
Then the child had some comment in relation to that.

MS. STEEL: Do you remember it?
