Car Wash Association; is that correct?
       A. No. I am sure there are many other examples where some
consumer would write us and say they did not like a
particular commercial, they did not like either the
behaviour in the commercial, or they did not like the
particular group was portrayed; and then we would change
it. I was talking within the context of a governmental
       body.

  Q. Was the complaint from the Car Wash Association -- is the
Car Wash Association a governmental body?
       A. No; it was the association itself that said they did
not like the way their car washing was portrayed.

  Q. You did not want to offend the Car Wash Association?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. So, in your mind, is the commercial interest of the Car
Wash Association more important than the public health?
       A. No, not at all.

MS. STEEL: I just wanted to ask about "Ronald and the
Nutrients". This was a video produced by your department,
       you said to Mr. Rampton?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What was the purpose of that?
       A. Again, I do not believe I was in on the development of
that, but I think, to the best of my memory, it was to show
the different food groups that are part of a basic diet.

  Q. To children?
       A. Yes.

  Q. For what reason?
       A. So that they would have an idea of what those basic
       food groups were.

  Q. For the purposes of healthy eating?
       A. Well, again, it goes back to some of the educational
things that we have done in the past, the programmes we
have made available through the schools on nutrition, as
       well as on physical fitness.

  Q. Right. Were they done by your department, as well?
       A. No. Those were done by the Communications department.

  Q. Why was this particular video done by your department?
       A. Because it was a commercial that featured Ronald
McDonald, and it was part of the children's advertising.

  Q. It was part of children's advertising?
       A. That is correct; the commercial was shown on children's
       television.

  Q. Right. It says in your statement that it was for use in
the classroom by teachers of kindergarten through to third
       grade. Is that right?
       A. I am not sure what you are referring to, but-----
