Day 046 - 04 Nov 94 - Page 25

MR. RAMPTON: If it is a new topic-----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can we use this moment, before we look at
tab 36, to ask how we are doing?

MR. RAMPTON: Mr. Miles is in court. It would be convenient
because he knows whether he can go away or not.

MR. MORRIS: On Mr. Miles, I do not think that it would be
appropriate for him to wait, but we will make every attempt
to finish by the end of today.

MR. RAMPTON: The Defendants should remember that I have a right
to re-examine. I do have some few questions in
re-examination, lasting, I would think, between twenty
       minutes and half an hour.

MR. MORRIS: We will do our level best to finish something like
       half past three.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do your very best.

MR. RAMPTON: That is all I am asking.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We might, so that people can think about
whether there is any great inconvenience, finish at about
one o'clock and then resume about ten to two, because every
ten minutes may help towards the end of the day.

MR. RAMPTON: I wonder whether your Lordship would excuse me for
five minutes? I will leave Mr. Atkinson to mind the shop.
I would like a word with Mr. Miles before he goes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. There is no need to ask Mr. Miles to
stay against the possibility we will be a few minutes at
the end of the day. Then perhaps at the end of the day you
could tell us who you do propose to call first thing on
       Monday morning.

       Yes, Mr. Morris?

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness) Do you have tab 36?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. When Mr. Rampton quoted some of that yesterday, I think it
was on page 185 he quoted some paragraphs; yes? Do you
       remember that? I think it was 4a), b), c) and d) or 4a),
       b), c); yes?
       A. Yes, I believe so.

  Q. You said it was an accurate reflection?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You were not at this meeting yourself, were you; no?
       A. No, I was not.

  Q. In that section, the introduction to those accurate points,
there is a summary of the position:
