Day 044 - 02 Nov 94 - Page 14

       A. Again, I am not sure I understand the question. The
people that work within the company, for example, as you
have talked about, who are nutritionists, work with the
people who develop the food and prepare the food.

  Q. Yes. I am talking about whether your department as a
department cares about the health of the public?
       A. Certainly, as an individual, yes.

  Q. I am talking about your department, or is it not something
that bothers you at all, as a department?
       A. No. It is obviously something that I think everyone
cares about, the health of public.

  Q. Everyone in your department?
       A. I think that most everyone who is in business cares
       about people.

  Q. We are not talking about everyone in business; we are
       talking about McDonald's Corporation.
       A. Sure.

  Q. And your department with it.
       A. Yes.

  Q. Are they abiding by and promoting McDonald's care for the
       public health?
       A. I think we are promoting McDonald's, and we are doing
it in a way that does not affect, negatively, public
       health, yes.

  Q. But the Corporation, you said, does not just want to be
affecting negatively; they positively want to, you said,
       care about the public's health?
       A. I think I answered the question. I believe we do care
       about it, yes.

  Q. Your department would care about the public's health?
       A. Certainly.

  Q. Are you aware of international health concerns over foods
that are high in fat, sugar and salt, and low in fibre?
       A. I certainly have read in the newspapers in the United
States about that, as well as reading material, yes.

  Q. Your nutritional consultants or in-house department will be
       aware of that, presumably?
       A. I would assume that they read the same kinds of
       information as I do.

  Q. It is their job, is it not? It is their job to be aware
about the public health, is it not?
       A. From a nutritional point of view, I would think if they
       were nutritionists, absolutely.

MR. MORRIS: If they did not, they would get the sack,
       presumably?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: To what extent do you come into contact with
nutritionists in the company? You are being asked about
