Day 041 - 28 Oct 94 - Page 16

which your Lordship was given this morning is only partly
referable to this tape because I understand the first part
of this tape is adults' advertisements, and the children's
advertisements on this tape start, I think, at the
beginning of the list, but do not go much beyond robots in
1990. There is another tape consisting entirely of
children's advertisements which I myself was not proposing
to show, unless your Lordship was enthusiastic to watch it.

MR. MORRIS: Can we have a couple of minutes to get organised?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Is there some way of just letting me
know which ad I am actually watching on the list? Does Mr.
       Hill know, for instance?

MR. RAMPTON: Mr. Hill does not, but Mr. Hawkes will be able to
say, I hope, when the adult advertisements end and the
children's begin. It may be that it will be obvious that
the first one is Wild West.

  THE WITNESS: Yes, it is.

MR. RAMPTON: One can take it from there, I hope.

MR. MORRIS: Is it a possible to have a twenty seconds break
between each ad so we can stop and take notes, because they
are going to be very fast?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is it possible to do that?

MR. MORRIS: We have not got a name; if you could give each one
a name it would be helpful, or to say "No. 1" at least.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest, Mr. Rampton, unless you have
no objection, if the tape can be stopped when we get to the
end of an ad and then Mr. Hawkes can just say: "That was
Wild West" or whatever. What is "MYD" on the list? You
have "Wild West" and in brackets "(MYD version)"?
       A. Probably "Makes Your Day" version, which was a new
       theme line that we used.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That comes from a quote from a well-known
actor in a well-known film "Makes Your Day" or did
       McDonald's get there first?
       A. No, he got there first!

                  (Video recording was then shown)

THE WITNESS: I think that one was actually called "Meals on
       Wheels".

(The second video recording was shown)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is that the Paramount -- I cannot remember --
is that how Paramount Pictures start with the edifice and
       the search light flashing across?

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, it is Twentieth Century Fox.

THE WITNESS: It was called "Double Features".
