provided we can ensure it does come back and he can have
       it back.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us deal with it, as I say, at the end of
       Professor Crawford's evidence-in-chief. Perhaps I could
just say now that in so far as there are large volumes
like that, or two of the volumes which Mr. Cannon referred
to on Monday, it is not essential that I see all copies.
What is essential is that I have photocopies of any actual
pages referred to by either side in due course.

MS. STEEL: Yes. I think you have copies of all the parts
that Professor Crawford is intending to refer to.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I will keep these separate for the
       moment.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, arising out of what your Lordship said a
moment ago, there is one matter in Professor Crawford's
statement about which I should ask leave to seek
clarification before he leaves court today.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, very well.

               PROFESSOR MICHAEL ANGUS CRAWFORD, Sworn
                      Examined by the Defendants

  Q. Could you give your full names to the court, please?
       A. Michael Angus Crawford.

  Q. You are Professor Crawford?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Could you also give your address to the court?
       A. I work at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children in
       Hackney, Hackney Road.

MR. RAMPTON: I wonder if Professor Crawford would not mind
       speaking up a little?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: You are currently the director of the Institute of
Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition at the Queen Elizabeth
Hospital for Children; is that right?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Is it right that you graduated in chemistry at Edinburgh
       University in 1952?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Do you want to go through the details?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have it in paragraphs 1 and 2 of your July
1993 statement. In fact, the first page of your original
statement you set out some details of your qualifications,
       positions and career?
       A. Yes.

  Q. I will take those as read into your evidence.
