MR. MORRIS: If we can just look at the statement of Professor
Wheelock. It should be in plaintiffs' witness statements
-- you do not need that file any more. I do not know what
colour they are. Yellow. Volume V, Nutrition. It is
section 1, page 7 internal, headed "Cancers".
       A. I am sorry, it is not number 1 in mine ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Which tab is it?
       A. It must be No.5.

MR. MORRIS: Sorry, it is Professor Wheelock's statement. I do
not know what tab that is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There are three: 5, 6 and 7.

MR. MORRIS: It is 8th June 1993, section 1, "Diet and Health".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is tab 5.

MR. MORRIS: So it is tab 5, section 1, page 7. It refers to
this report that we were quoting from. If we look down
       the page ---- (Pause)

Just over the page, on page 8, I just say what
       Mr. Wheelock's summary of what the committee concluded;
Professor Wheelock's conclusion is: "The Committee
concluded that of all the dietary components it studied,
the combined epidemiological and experimental evidence is
most suggestive for a causal relationship between the fat
intake and the occurrence of cancer." Would you agree with
       that?
       A. What he is saying ----

  Q. He is saying that is what they are saying?
       A. He is saying that the committee concluded and that it
was most suggestive. But he then goes on to qualify that
particular point. The committee actually recognised the
limitations inherent in the various strategies. This is
the point I made this morning, that some studies do show a
relationship, others do not. One has to try to find out
why there should be this difference and it is these
limitations and the possibility of introducing bias which
is important. He mentions further on in his statement
       about the question of bias.

  Q. I will not read much because I am conscious Mr. Wheelock's
       statement has been accepted.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. What you are batting for at the moment
       is international and governmental recognition.

  MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: - at this time. So ...

MR. MORRIS: If we very briefly go to section 1, page 1. I do
not know why it is page 1.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: In Professor Wheelock's statement?
