I have decided to write more about what I think (even though it is more than a year ago) as I think YOU didn't read my last message properly.I am now a Party host at my store (Guildford 065) and most of what I said a year ago still stands. What I have difficuly in trying to get round my (thick, in your books) head is why you single-out all of McD's bad points?
You claim that we (as a company) purposly cut down rainforests for use of our paper. How come our bags are recyled paper?
(Secondly, do you read books???? and what where your statements in the Mclibel case written on?)
:Employees are exploited
Yeah, so everyone in Macs are exploited, fine i finish work round about til 2-3am every morning, pull 14 hour shifts on a sunday to run 3 childrens parties and close the restraunt. Stay for overnighters for MCD VIP visits. Work 6-7 day weeks if need be. afew other people in our store do it with perhaps more people in the company as well, but the thing is I get paid for it, it is MY choice (I may get asked by the Shift runner or the manager, but at the end of the day it is MY CHOICE)and I don't mind doing it. If half of the workforce in this country didn't give a shit about their work then nothing will get done.
As a Party Host I do realise that our food isn't nutritious but the parties at Macs are traditional in the sence of games, face paints and balloon modelling (the latter can be used for charity events in sore)and at the end of the day the children enjoy themselves.
I do believe in free speech, but having looked at this site and reading other peples messages it is becoming incresingly aparent that your view is final and nobody elses matters. So in your eyes you are just as bad as Mcdonalds. (I mean in YOUR eyes)
If this does appear to be in bad nettiquette then please look at what you have written in your last follow-up to me. In not so many words you were basicly saying that I was a simple minded person who had no views of his own and that I was brainwashed by the company, I take great offence in that (it may be a year late but i do have better things to to than voice my opinion on the net)so be careful what you say to people like me who have the view that THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MCDONALDS
I hope you take time to read this.

McSpotlight: We would never suggest that you had no right to your own views; unlike your employers. We're not saying our view is final; but McDonald's attempts to suppress criticism suggest that they are.
As to "why McDonald's?"; read this page and remember; McSpotlight would not exist if McDonald's hadn't made over 30 legal attempts to silence critics.
Thirdly, if you're content to be exploited, so be it; but what of those who have to get a job to make ends meet?; and whose working conditions are bad because McD's can treat them as expendable. The worker is not a singular being; the worker is part of a community of workers; and if one section allows itself to be exploited, it results in worse conditions for the others. Read Dan Gallin's interview on the subject.
If you recognize that the food isn't nutritious, how can you work for a company that promotes it as such; you are supporting a deliberate lie aimed at an agegroup who don't have the critical faculties to see through it; it's a matter for your conscience. The children may well enjoy themselves; but why have a party in McDonald's; the aim is to sell them junk food - would McD's just throw parties for children if they didn't see a sale in it for themselves?
Remember what the McDonald's Operations Manual says;
"Ronald loves McDonald's and McDonald's food. And so do children, because they love Ronald. Remember, children exert a phenomenal influence when it comes to restaurant selection. This means you should do everything you can to appeal to children's love for Ronald and McDonald's."
We do not want you to shut up; we are more than happy to exercise your freedom of speech here; because we believe freedom of speech to be important. However, it seems obtuse to us that you maintain that there's nothing wrong with McDonald's here on McSpotlight - because McSpotlight wouldn't exist if McDonald's hadn't tried to bully the McLibel defendants into silence for daring to criticize them.
None.
