: Well, you could say that your attempt to build a strawman argument
: by forcing words into my mouth and ascribing false positions to me
: by adopting a naive dichotomous view of all that I've said, has failed
: miserably!

Well, as I said what I outlined in my reply was MY understanding of your
position on the basis of your own articles. I'll let other readers be the
judge of how accurately I have reflected your views. I just add that I
never intended to use your exact words to describe your position but rather
the implied meanings that are lurking behind these words.

...

: : I suppose you regard the working conditions at McD so reasonable that they
: : should be the model for the "real low paid" to strive towards!

: I regard the working conditions in McDonalds compared with that of a number of
: friends who are care assistants in the mental health sector to be a
: bed of roses.

OK, OK, OK, let me spell it out for you (and pleeeeease try to understand this time).
There are millions of low paid workers throughout the world who work under
terrible working conditions. This includes McD workers. No one can deny this. Indeed
this is the nature of the capitalist world we are leaving in and that is exactly
why we have to unite to campaign for a total change of the existing global socio-economic
system. This of course requires exposing and fighting against exploitation of workers
by capitalist establishments wherever it occures. And this is where organisations
like McSpotlight play an important role. And yes workers organisations such as TUs (with
all their shortcomings) are very important too.

BTW, there are no group of workers who are better off, there are only workers
who are worse of than the rest.

: I am on the side of those who are genuinely doing difficult jobs for
: little pay.

You could have fooled me!!

: given that the
: expressed goal of this campaign is to completely close McDs down, what
: will you tell those unemployed former employees now earning zero
: per hour?

So now in addition to everything else we have to be indebted to McD for
creating jobs too!! You are begining to sound more and more like a company
person desperately fighting the corporations' corner. Is it beyong you to imagine
other possibly more interesting and useful jobs?

: Finally. Some of the statements I have made here are provocative.
: They are deliberately so to fire up some debate, otherwise the whole
: thing degenerates into an 'old pals' club swapping anecdotes. Genuine
: debate requires someone to take an opposing view. I'm quite happy to
: do that, but do not assume anything on the basis of what I don't say.
: Deal with what I write.

Look mate, cut out the bull. Don't tell me you were just being contovercial for
the sake of better debate because it won't work. Say what you mean and disagree
if you have a point. Otherwise you will come across as a time waster at best or
at worst, someone who is mudying the waters in the interest of you know who.
The bottom line is that if someone regards working at McD simply flipping burgers,
then s/he can't really know much about the job.
