: I'm new to McDonald's (about three months on staff) and after learning more about this corporations' philosophy and business practices I have decided to uinionize the McD's I work at. It's getting very interesting.: Yes, I'm asking for a lot of trouble, and I've already got it from what little I've done so far. This company seems to have the union busting thing down, but I think it's worth a shot. I don't spend a lot of time online, but I welcome your e-mails and advice, thoughts, or warnings.
Flint:
Its important to remember that what little protection workers have under U.S. Labor Law is that of "concerted activity". Meaning, you have to discuss your problems with your fellow workers before you take action, preferrably together. If you just act alone, then you can be easily fired. If you have atleast discussed it with other workers, you can press an unfair labor practice charge and get your job back or atleast some money... sometimes. If you don't have "concerted activity" they can fire you for breathing the wrong way.
Well... organizing is a popular topic now.
I've posted a number of things on it over time. The most recent advice I gave to someone will also help you out.
