I remember when I was 11, I couldn't wait to turn 12, because my local newspaper hired newspaper carriers beginning at age 12. Four months before my 12th birthday, however, that paper cancelled the afternoon edition, and became an all-morning paper, delivered at about 4:30 a.m. As an adult, I moved, to a place where the newspaper has only an afternoon edition. You'd think there would be all sorts of kids delivering newspapers, right? Actually, only half are kids, with the remainder of the paper routes handled by unemployed adults! None.
