: Thanks for your comments and I wholeheartedly agree with your point about the rubbish that they make us feel we should be thankful for. Why should we wear a badge with our name on it. I think retail is too easy for workers to get stressed out about. A huge part of it is done for you and workers are hardly encouraged to think, which is a bad thing. I am mainly referring to the more Hi-Tech retailers.Again, I agree on those points. There are a lot of similarly shitty jobs out there outside of retailing, but I can imagine the majority of big retailers treat their workers the same way. I must ask, however: What is a high-tech retailer? That can be interpreted several ways.
One thing I neglected to put in the first post was the incredible lack of trust these employers place in their employees. One example is that women aren't allowed to bring their purses to work, lest they make off with some of the merchandise. Instead, they are issued small handbags made of clear plastic, so their ill-gotten wares can be seen through them. I'd probably be a bitter old crone myself if I stayed through all the bullshit for so many years.
