I am currently doing a dissertation into the deskilling and dehumanising effects of working in a retail shop/store, such as Safeway.
It seems a very mundane way to make a living and I would be interested to hear of job prospects, opportunites and anything else positive. Or is it a case of standing at a checkout, staring blankly, and letting time pass as old Miss Miggins cabbage is weighed and beeped on to the bagpacker without workers caring what lies in the future.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, ideas and opinions.
Cheers
