Deceptive pricing

My pet hate is all those retailers that end all their prices in 99 cents..ie..4.99..29.99..99.99. This of course is deceive you into thinking that the price is actually lower than it is.
This is especially deceptive in Australia, because we have no 1 or 2 cent coins. If you buy something priced at 99 cents and give them 1 dollar, you don't get any change because they are allowed to round of the price to the nearest dollar. We must have the most stupid monetary system on earth.
