S: That is quite gullible of you. I never heard that rumor, but I can assure you that it is false.
Qx: Now, now Shaun. He's asking for evidence to see of this is true so that should be able to tell you that this person isn't exactly as "gullible" as you say.
S: 10% of KFC's profits are a hell of a lot of money. If they gave away 10% to any group it would probably be quite a financial burden on them.
Qx: Actually, there's more than enough evidence to show that groups on the far-right are quite skilled at financial management, moneyhandling and playing very sophisticated shellgames through offshore banking sources. Why should a Klan faction be any different?
S: Also, even if they did do that, they would go out of business. Every black customer in America, and almost all whites would boycott KFC if they were really affiliated with such a hateful group.
Qx: Not really, there is such a thing as deniable plausibility and don't forget that many transnationals have built up their reputations through official and unofficial liaisons with organizations who have unsavoury reputations.
For example, if one looks at Wackenhut's history at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of th twentieth centuries it's easy to see that they ranked right up there with the Pinkerton Detective Agency in destroying working class communities at the behest of business owners. They made strikebreaking a multimillion dollar industry and the KKK was a very powerful entity at that time with well over 2 million members by the 1920's.
Keep in mind that the KKK has been and will continue to be a violently anti-union organization with a proven track record and their contemporaries, the Wackenhut Corporation continue to have a large interest in Kentucky Fried Chicken. By the way, Colonel was also a close friend of Ray Kroc so it's easy to see where anti-union hatreds can be cultivated by the highest ranking members of the American business community and developed as a norm for the fastfood industry.
S: All the employees and managers and corporate staff would quit on them if it was true.
Qx: No, I don't see that as the probable scenario. If you expct a fastfood giant to be thical in regards to their lowest level emplyess do you think that they would necessarily cringe at the thought of association with KKK.
