For instance, in Australia, "almost 80 per cent of the reduction in infant mortality between the 1880s and the 1970s occurred prior to the 1930s." ( Dr. R. Taylor, Medicine out of Control, 1979: p.9). Extensive vaccination did not begin in Australia until the mid-1930s and for some diseases did not commence until the 1960s and later.

The decline of infectious disease before vaccination occurred in the other western countries, as documented in standard university texts such as those by Thomas McKeown. ("A social history of medicine" if i recall the title correctly).
In the US, a famous 1970s study (famous in academic circles) by McKinlay and McKinlay, concluded that medical technology (drugs etc.)
contributed only about 3% to the increase in human longevity. The rest was due to improved hygiene & nutrition, better housing, clean
water, sewage systems and treatment etc.

Your point about animals having better lives in the labs displays your complete ignorance about the reality of what occurs. I know from first hand experience as a university student in biological scineces. If I were another species, I'd prefer to take my chances in the wild anyday thanks!

Or so the drug lobby wants us to believe. If that were true, that our bodies are so inept and we are SO dependant on chemical potions and animal research to survive, how was it possible for those who did vaccine-animal-testing in the late-19th century and early 20th century
to survive to an age to do the animal experiments - if we are all so

Only a very small percentage of people are susceptible to infectious agents. If you want an authoritarian opinion saying this, it has been delcared by some of the greatest medical minds of the century such as Rene Dubos in his 1950s book "medical nemesis".
** eg. POLIO - very few people (in an unvaccinated state) are susceptible to it.
Previous to the polio vaccines, out of all those who were infected with the wild polio viruses, only around 10% showed any clinical symptoms - of these 8% suffer no more serious than what is like a slight cold - only 1-2% of unvaccinated people suffer any form of paralysis and there are many known nutritional regimens for preventing/alleviating this. There are many examples in the medical literature of disease
outbreaks in vaccinated populations. For example, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported a measles outbreak in a documented 100% vaccinated population (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) 22/6/84). In 1985, the US Government reported 1,984 non-preventable cases of measles: 80% were fully-immunised (MMWR 6/6/86). In 1989, of the 17,850 measles cases reported, 7,149 were appropriately vaccinated and 6,033 had evidence of previous vaccination (MMWR 1/6/90). The Journal of the American Medical Association (21/11/90) contains an article on measles that states: "Although more than 95% of school-aged children in the United States are vaccinated against measles, large measles outbreaks continue to occur in schools, and most cases in this setting occur among previously vaccinated children". Note that when the media talks about `outbreaks' they usually never mention the vaccination status of the victims.
