: McDonalds union ratified (March 4th 1998): Montreal---Workers at a McDonalds on Montreal's south shore won their fight to form a union despite the fact that they lost their jobs last month.The Quebec Labour commission granted union accreditation to the suburban Ste Hubert outlet Monday, one year after the Teamsters union made the application on behalf of 60 employees. The restaurant was set to become the first organized McDonalds in North America before,owners closed it's doors Feb13. The head of the Quebec Federation of labour said the ruling will be used to help negotiate a settlement for the workers . The owners denied the closing was meant to hurt the union.
