Elite impunity amidst public apathy

William Porter says: One can ponder the thought of democracy and take into consideration the fighting of our forefathers in order to maintain freedom, but when it comes down to it, today in America there lives no democracy. Life is a drifting spotlight on a center stage with greed and domination clinging to its coatails and hammering at its senses, while the weak are essentially eaten by the strong.

My response: Well, there certainly is this phenomenon of elite impunity amidst public apathy you express in the above metaphor... perhaps democracy is only dormant, however...it might wake up someday...
