I use Working Assets Long Distance and am pleased with the service. It may be a few dollars more or less expensive than MCI, Sprint, or the others, but I don't care, because WALD donates a percent of its profits to progressive non-profits such as the Rainforest Action Network. No, I don't work for WALD; I'm only a customer. But if you want to contact them, you may call 1-800-788-8588. By the way, if this little commercial plug violates this website's rules, I apologize.
Now back to your regularly scheduled netsurfing...
: MCI is the biggest freaking joke I've ever had this displeasure of dealing with. I ordered their "5 cents per minute" long distance service for my phone. It worked for about one week then was shut off. A few days later I got a letter from them saying that I owed them money from a previous service (which I never had) and that they would shut me off (which they already had) if I didn't pay the money I didn't owe.
: I called them up and got put on hold for 10 minutes and bounced around to several different people one of which said that I never owed them ANYTHING and that my service would be turned back on after I answered a few questions (about 15 questions). Two weeks later I still did not have any long distance service, but I did recieve a bill for the entire month which showed I was being charged way more than 5 cents per minute no matter when my calls were made.
: I switched to another carrier. Two weeks later I get a letter in the mail from MCI congradulating me for switching back to MCI and explaining their new 5 cents per minute rates and how happy I was going to be!!! I had been switched back to MCI without my knowledge and without giving anyone my permission to do this! What an outrage. This is criminal. If I can't pick my own long distance carrier then what was the point of busting up AT&T???
:
None.
