I'm sure you'd agree that the support of gangland violence and drug use could have no positive impact on any individual. Therefore it is up to the individual to choose...right or wrong.
I agree with you, but also point out there is a very big qualification in what you've said. Can any medium be proven to tout only negativity? I think that this is the crux of the problem. We would like to get rid of the truly bad things, but nobody agrees on what these are, which means to disallow anything wouldn't be right and individual freedom of choice to buy the music or whatever prevails.
