According to Vegan activists, McDonald’s are promoting a diet that is riddled with carcinogens and other health threatening substances.
Many hysterical accusations are made by these activists about ‘tumor burgers’ and so on. But just how safe is a Vegan diet? Do capitalist Vegan restaurants and recipe-book publishers peddle toxins in the same way that these self righteous ’activists’ claim that McDonald’s do?
This does, in fact, seem to be the case.
For example, both cloves and bay leaves, flavouring ingredients sometimes used in Vegan recipes, contain significant quantities of eugenol, a known carcinogen.
According to Michael Castleman: “...in laboratory tests, the chemical eugenol, has been found to be a weak tumor promoter, making clove one of many healing herbs with both pro- and anti- cancer effects. If you have a history of cancer, you should avoid use of clove.”
To me, this suggests that some Vegan dishes served by my local Vegan restaurant may be at least as carcinogenic as the McDonald’s ‘tumor burgers’ that I occasionally enjoy.
And even a few minutes’ casual research uncovers evidence of other carcinogens in Vegan food too.
Soybeans for example, which according John D. Weaver (http://zonehome.com/zt11/_disc/00000128.htm), contain ”...large quantities of a number of harmful substances. First among them are potent enzyme inhibitors which block the action of trypsin and other enzymes needed for protein digestion.
These "antinutrients" are not completely deactivated during ordinary cooking and can produce serious gastric distress, reduced protein digestion and chronic deficiencies in amino acid uptake. In test animals, diets high in trypsin inhibitors cause
enlargement and pathological conditions of the pancreas, including cancer.”
Soybeans also contain phytates, which can lead to mineral dificiencies. And guess what? To lessen the risks from phytates, simply accompany your soybeans with a little good old-fashioned animal flesh!
According to Weaver “...when precipitated soy products are consumed with meat, the mineral blocking effects of (the phytates in soybeans) are reduced. Japanese traditionally eat tofu as part of a mineral-rich fish broth. Vegetarians who consume tofu and bean curd as a substitute for meat and dairy products risk severe mineral deficiencies...”
It seems to me that there are at least the starting points here, in the interests of balance, for McSpotlight to set up a “VegSpotlight” – to uncover and debate some of the lies, inconsistencies and hypocracies peddled by Vegan propagandists, things like: “McDonald’s lettuce is made from 12 kinds of chemicals” “McDonald’s milkshakes are called ‘Shakes’ because they don’t contain any milk”, etc. etc. (If this really is the case, what happens to the enormous quantities of milk supplied to McDonald’s by dairy suppliers?).
I think many of the vegans and ’activists’ posting to McSpotlight are guilty of many of the same sins that they claim McDonald’s and other multinationals are.
Perhaps ”VegSpotlight” could replace “Capitalism and Alternatives”, as that particular discussion group seems to be a complete waste of time, and disk-drive space on the Debating Room server.
Note to McSpotlight moderators: if possible, please link the words ‘John D. Weaver’ to http://zonehome.com/zt11/_disc/00000128.htm as I could not figure out how to link more than one URL
