: There is no law against advertising to children, but there are laws against slander.
I think if you look at the Independant Television Commisions web site (www.ITC.org/ I think.) you will find, under the advertising to children section, that yes, there are many rules, put there through legislation, that cover advertising to children.
As said by Rex at McSpotlight at the bottom of your article, and also said by the judge in the McLibel judgement, McDonalds arealso guilty of false advertising (calling their food nutricious!) You'll also find in the evidence to that trial (all on this web site, aren't they good to you, maiking it soooo easy for you to check your facts) that in America, they were also told by the Attorney General of Texas that they were going to be dragged through the courts for false advertising on recycling.
Yes there are laws about advertising to children, and yes, McDonalds do lots of it, they also lied in some of theirs. You'll find that as this is backed up by a high court judge, thats not slander, and besides, as it is a published article, it would be libel!
