Although it may seem that I concentrate on food and nutritional issues, this is only because I find such arguments are more succesful in converting people than animal rights arguments (people tend to bunch up when you yell "meat is murder" in their faces. Rest assured I am acutely concerned for the welfare of nonhuman animals, and I believe that their grievous mistreatment is the single worst aspect of humanity. While women's rights native rights are undeniably concerning, I feel that these should not be elevated above what I feel is the most important issue. While other groups are mistreated, they are generally not mistreated to the extent of being hung by their feet and having their throat slit while fully conscious, 350 million times a year in Australia alone. Saying that humans are more important than the other 30 million species combined is the height of humanic egocentrism. There is no reason why the pain of nonhumananimals is any less traumatic than the pain of humans.
