: I work in a McDonalds. It's nearly (if not the best) paid job in my area. I would just like to say that if you're going to put stuff into your flyers then make sure that it's the truth (i.e. we DO get paid overtime -- your leaflet would have people believe the opposite!)I'd just like to say that before you go around accusing campaigners of putting out false information why don't you check what you're saying is the truth. Cos it may be in Australia, but it certainly isn't in the UK. McDonald's in the UK have admitted that they don't pay overtime, although they claim they don't need to because no-one works more than 39 hours, which just isn't true. But if you don't believe that UK McDonald's workers don't get overtime pay try reading the transcripts of Sid Nicholson (McDonald's UK Vice President) Day 117 page 10 line 41
Read also Rampton's closing speech for McDonald's on Day 310 page 18 where he admits workers weren't paid the proper/legal rate but then tries to weasel out of it by claiming it wasn't a deliberate attempt to cheat the company's low paid workers.

Are there laws requiring the payment of overtime in Australia? If so perhaps that's why you get it? If not, perhaps its cos the union movement is stronger over there and workers wouldn't put up with no overtime pay. Lets hope workers over here don't tolerate it for much longer.
None.
