: While you make a good point about personal and parental responsibility, you must admit that McDonalds is not an innocent bystander in all this. Who saturates the world with advertising featuring a kid-friendly clown and movie tie-in toys? Who knowingly makes unhealthy food? Why are you so quick to absolve McDonalds' of its responsibility in this equation?
I agree that McDonalds is not a totally innocent bystander. as a company, like any company, they have a responsibility to their customers. however, i feel that individuals obviously have a responsibility to themselves and should hold themselves accountable for what they do, eat, drink, etc. McDonalds don't deliver an immediate dangerous product, they actually deliver a very safe product. they go through safety checks on their food every single day. but like almost anything if u have it often enough and on regular occasions and don't live a healthy lifestyle, then yes in the long run it could be dangerous. that is why, in my opinion, personal choices to eat the food on such regular occasions is the overriding reason why people get these sought of diseases and illnesses that are mentioned. McDonalds cant TOTALLY be to blame (which is the impression i get in alot of these messages) just because they put out an unhealthy product - that millions of people want.
I don't think that i absolve maccas of their responsibility, but i place more importance on individual responsibility and accountability..which alot of people in this room seem to quickly absolve themself of.
: : I'm no doctor, but correct me if i am wrong, to get a heart disease from eating maccas, then u not only would have to eat it on regular occassions, but be eating it for many, many years. aswell, it would have to be the only thing on your diet. c'mon, lets be realistic!!!

However, there is no denying that fast food is bad, unhealthy food, so why take issue when this fact is illuminated?
i'm not saying that maccas food is good, healthy stuff. i am taking the issue because almost everybody is quick to blame maccas when, in my opinion, u can't place all the blame on maccas just for putting out a product that millions of people make a PERSONAL DECISION to eat the crap.
: as with all foods, the saying goes "everything in moderation". McDonalds is no worse or better than anything else as long as it is in moderation and part of a balanced diet.
However, my points about the fast food industry and its horrendous effects upon the environment and its systemic abuse of animals still stand, so on a macro level, one cannot defend McDonald's simply by saying that individual consumers may or may not get sick from their food; the overall effect upon the world and animals is unquestioningly bad.
do u drive a car?? i assume u are using electricity to power up your computer!!!! i assume that u go to the toilet and flush it into the ocean!!! do u have an electric or gas cooking stove??? are u blaming the companies that produce these wonderful inventions that u and everybody else in the world take for granted?? these wonderful inventions that probably do more damage to the environment them maccas ever could!!!
in regards to the animals - a serious question....is the fact that maccas (or their suppliers) are cruel to the animals and treat them bad or is because they kill them???

so lets blame maccas for having a business that is not good for anyone or anything, even though there survival is based on how much of a demand society places on it.
NO MACCAS ARE NOT COMPLETELY ABSOLVED OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITY, BUT SOCIETY SHARE EQUAL, IF NOT MORE BLAME BECAUSE THEY MAKE THE DECISION (A DECISION WHICH MIGHT BE INFLUENCED BY RONALDS SMILE) AND MAKE IT INDIVIDUALLY THAT MAKES MACCAS AS BIG AS THEY ARE.
Just because society are stupid enough, or don't care enough about how they get their burgers or what happens to the rainforests, maccas can't be solely to blame for using this to their advantage.

exactly, 'known to be unhealthy', yet millions of people still make the decision to buy the crap. it is there (individuals)lack of respect for themselves and their enviroment which are just as guilty.

especially give the evidence that the majority of their custom comes from the users classed as 'heavy' or 'super-heavy' users; i.e. those who eat an unhealthy amount of McDonald's food in the first place.
blame maccas because these people CHOOSE to be unhealthy, 'heavy' users??
