Yes, I know that humans are animals. And no, I'm not a religious freak, though under the right circumstances I might speak in tongues.

I debated whether or not to add a parenthetical to my last message assuring everyone that I know humans are animals, but decided it was not necessary. Most people -- even religious freaks and the CEO of McDonalds -- know that humans are animals, but we all also use the term "animals" as shorthand for "non-human animals." You know that, right?

My point remains: when people accuse others of acting like "animals," they mean "non-human animals," but the reality is that the human animal behaves far worse than any of our other animal brethren.
