Many have grown up with McDonald's. Their parents took them there, and the clowns, play areas, happy meals, parties, etc. are probably fond memories for them. Not to mention the golden arches on the side of the freeway no matter where you go, open early in the morning and late at night. So they probably have goodwill toward McDonald's. Many will argue that something must be okay if it's been around for so long and grown so large. They'll tell themselves that it must be just fine because they're still alive after all these years. They don't know anyone who's died directly as a result of McDonald's. They understand that it's bad only if you eat three meals of it every single day of the week, but they probably think it's "okay in moderation," like candy and alcohol. These are the types of things that go through a person's mind. We cannot ignore the fact that McDonald's gets people while they're young. Even the youngest kids are being taught to buy McDonald's. Eventually, they will be the ones paying for the big macs. So why don't parents just stop? It's hard for parents to stop when they've for so long been told that it's an okay place to go. It's not just the kids. The kids grow up to be parents. Then the whole family has a problem. None.
