Supporting our sportspeople???

I am a student at Wellington High School, New Zealand. REcently, our top sportspeople have been receiving free Mcdonald's meals in recognition of their acheievements.If you look at MCDOnald's motives for this, (profit, free advertising, and an acceptance of their product as one fit for sportspeople)how can anyone think this is acceptable? Does this happen at other schools? and is there a good way to promote awareness of the problems with McDonalds without raising the ire of the school?
