Yep, the rich cling to their formalities in the shadow of death. It's also interesting to note that there was another attempt to blow up a high school that was made into a news story on the 10 o'clock news, this one in Lancaster, California, site of a good deal of skinhead activity (check out William Finnegan's COLD NEW WORLD for documentation of this stuff). In this case the authorities uncovered the plot before it took form. (Folks in Lancaster are generally in bad financial shape, so no doubt they were already a "suspect population" anyway.) Could it be that some of America's high schools are seeing the ultimate results of their forced and disempowering creation of "community"?
