: its those dang teenagers running these fast food places and thats where they will stay. you know that they arent going to have a real job. And they know it. so they take it out on us.....PeAcE
There were two categories of workers I encountered in my time in fast food. Some are like the ones you describe, with nothing good happening in their lives, no prospects for the future, such that their jobs are the most important thing in ther lives. These are the ones who will spend the best years of their lives bouncing from one minimum-wage job to the next, until such time as they get married, move back into their parents' homes, get on welfare, or stumble into something that pays well. However, these are also the most likely to chase after the proverbial carrots dangled in front of them by management, in hopes of earning a bigger paycheck, therefore the least likely to take out their frustrations on the customers.
Conversely, the majority of the workers I encountered were merely working in fast food temporarily. For them, it was a brief stop on the way to something better, perhaps while attending school. These know they've reached their ceiling at their current jobs, and don't care if they should lose their jobs; after all, there are others. So, rather than taking out frustration, most everything they do that's rotten to the customers is simply done for kicks. You see, it all depends on your motivation, and it's hard to conjure up motivation when you earn next to nothing at a job you don't intend to keep.
