: : I support the fact that sweat shops are morally wrong, but I guess it would be considered part of economic evolution,,, if anyone has any info/ideas on sweat shops, please Email me with your thoughts. I'm doing a paper and could use resources!!!!

: i think that nike and kathy lee gifford are the worst scam artists of all time. workers in indonesia, china and vietnam are earning 6 cents/hour, while a meal there costs about 70. most of these workers are children or young women who are chained to their machines, working only to pay off family debts of about $16. do you see anything wrong with this picture?

Yes. You don't know what you are talking about, that's what is wrong. In 1997 US dollar terms, this so-called slave labour (Indonesian) earned about 14c per hour. A meal for an entire family cost about 54c. Compare that to a European or American wage:meal cost ratio, and you end up at about the same (sa long as you don't eat McD's, which costs less). Most families would like to pay less, McD's fills this niche. Basic economic pragmatism, really, all of the above that is. Why drink crap Seven-Up when you could have Dom Perignon all the time????

The data comes from the World Health Organisation. I assume you're all intelligent enough to find their web page, as you all have such obviously intelligent and well-informed opinions about the matter.

Facts matter, opinions don't.

McSpotlight: And the facts are that Keyhinge toys in Da Nang pay their employees a daily wage lower than the cost of a simple meal and make them work seventy hours a week
