: And I think your impression that the language on a coupon can be interpreted in the way you say. As said earlier, if the consumer wants to avoid potential argument, then they should always err on the one coupon per reciept side unless explicity told otherwise.

I'd say that if, the stores want to avoid potential arguments, they
should err on the side of just saying what they mean on the darn coupons: one coupon per reciept unless they explicitly mean otherwise.

Also, I'm not really "interpretting" anything. When I see the word "customer", what naturally comes to my mind is a..........anybody care to take a wild guess?.......That's right, a CUSTOMER! - you know, those things that look just like you on the other side of the counter (or window) that come to your establishment to trade their money for your product. I don't think a reasonable person should feel that they are no longer considered a "customer" if their friend or spouse hands the cashier their money instead of them. I think people would resent the implication if they understood that this is indeed what is meant by these coupons (according to you).

In short, this is a bunch of double talk. Are you telling us that, if the guy that started this thread had summoned the manager and asked him/her, at that point in time, whether his wife was a customer or not, the manager would say NO? That's awful. It demonstrates a distinct lack of respect for people in general. You'd think a company with so much money and power could afford to be more considerate toward people just for the hell of it. But, then again, their fortune wasn't built on a concern for others, was it.

: After all, if you really wanted the product in the first place, you'd be willing to pay full price for it. How cheap does one have to be to insist on saving that whole extra dollar?

Then you wouldn't care if, everytime you made a purchase anywhere from here on out, even if was just a stick of gum, they tacked on an extra dollar at the cash register just for the hell of it? Are you saying that you would care only if you didn't really want the product? That's strange, everybody else cares only about the price of prodcuts they DO want, but not you. You care only about the price of products you DON'T want. Okaaaayyy.....the plot thickens.

:To nitpick over coupons, from either side, is a petty and shallow act.

Then you are saying that McDonald's was being petty and shallow in this case, right? But earlier you were defending their decision to refuse to honor this gentleman's other coupons. Can you tie this together for us?
