: : Don: When we are in the voting booth, we both have the same number of votes. I have no idea which of us contributes the most to politics:
: Well, that is true.
: But it also seems to me that you Americans have :
: *Same number of candidates
Don: Usually we have one Democrat and one Republican. We also have other candidates: Libertarians, Greens, Peace and Freedom, and so on but they don't get coverage in the national media.
: *Same number of considerable political parties
Don: Now we also have Reform. They are one weird party.
: *Same number of alternatives to the current government
Don: We have others, they don't tend to get far.
: *Same number of choices
Don: Like I said above . . .
: *and just about everything that CAN be same in elections
: year after year after year after year.
: Well, that's my impression anyway. :)
Don: Yes, but . . . campaign finance reform will only make things worse. For one thing, it will give more power to the media and the government to maintain the "major" candidates in power. The media will still have its voice, and the government will choose which candidate to fund. Me and my friends will not be able to pool our money to buy add time for the local Radical Whig with a Tempor Party candidate.
None.
