: Alright, you got me there, but I still admire the Dutch for the social liberalism. I'm very fond of Denmark, by the way, having spent some time there.Holland is a place I like - and they do have what you call social liberalism - but if you want to build a shed in your own backgarden you have to get allsorts of approvals to do so (at least you did when I knew poeple there a few years back) - lots of red tape bureaucracy and checking with all and sundry - also they have recently had to cut way back on their benefits handouts, the country was slowly going banckrupt and many people were screwing the system.
: Alas, I fear we need to come up with a new label for what is happening in the world, or at least here in the United States. "Corporatism?" "Corporate Totalitarianism?" Maybe just good old "plutocracy."
plutocracy - government by the wealthy; or a group of wealthy people who control or influence a government.
Perhaps thats a good thing to call it. Its usually called capitalism - which means only private ownership of property and free trade and is not a necessary pre-cursor to plutocracy - observe monarchies many of whome were essentially plutocracies
