: Stu: I went back and read Matthew 10:34 again and I see what you mean. Jesus seems only to be about setting in place an economic system to bring parity and equity back to the masses. How could I have possibly overlooked that all these years? By reading past verse 35, that's
: how!

: Qx: And do you feel that this system that Jesus advocated is capitalism? There's plenty of Christians who believe that it could be quite the opposite. Even the pope has said a few things about the current economic system. Liberaton Theology is one attempt to address the problems brught about this current system of distribution and it sure seems better than most US-based fundy ideas of altruism. Any thoughts anyone? Does anyone really think capitalism can pull humanity through?

There are also many Catholics who have a very unfavorable view of this Pope. Myself included.
Tell me, do you give equal weight to the pronouncements of all the Church's Popes, or just the ones that you feel comfortable with?
Not all Popes in the Church's history have been good Popes. Is it possible that history is repeating itself?
Attempting to mix Catholicism with Marxism is mere foolishness. The teachings of Jesus had to do with personal salvation, not economic goods or political theory.
What was it that Jesus said to his disciples when the centurions came for him? How does that square with LT?
