Barry, first of all it's impolite to talk about Lark or anyone elsein the third person when he could be reading this. Second of all, Lark is, I think, a Christian Socialist. If the Swedish Government is recognized as socialist, Lark certainly is a socialist wqithout question, because most of the things he says are to teh left of social democracy.
Please go back and read all of hsi posts, I think you'll see the socialist tone.
And by the way, what makes you in charge of determining what socialism is? The Pygmy society was absolutely communal and without any concept fo hierrachy or private property. Are you going to call them capitalist or something just because they never read the writings of Marx & Engels. I mean, give me a break. Marxism is only one strain, albeit an intellectually brilliant one, within communism.
Finally, on teh subject of the intellectuals who fled Cuba. First of all, not many intellectuals did flee, and some who had left to escape Batista returned under Castro to take part in the revolution. In addition, Cuba demonstrates admirably hwo it doesn't matter if your intellectuals and businessmen hightail it out of teh country. You can create more intellectuals through public education- cuba is certainly a more intelllectual country than it was in '59. As for the bsuinessmen, they aren't necessary in the first place- as a Marxist, I'm sure you'd agree that they TAKE, they don't GIVE to the economy. What tehy contribute is capital, which is a totally chimerical construct- government can supply the resourecs isntead of having them sold on teh market, so capital is unnecessary.
