F: what would Saint Thomas More have thought about humanism as practiced by twentieth century man? Would the redistribution of wealth as practiced in the Soviet Union or Red China have garnered St. Thomas More's approval? Qx: he would more liely have been smarter than you buy first reading Marx throughly and ecognizing it as basically a very humanistics set of positions on Marx's part. Then he may have compared what Marx wrote to what Stalinism and Maoism was in it's reality (*hint- not the official US version of socialism or communism) and seen that this was ot huanism at all as envisaged by Marx.
F: Was St. Thomas More, while writing his 'Utopia', thinking of a society based on atheism, or one aligned with St. Augustine's 'City on a Hill'?
Qx; Well, since he ain't here and since nobody but More can really say this is really just irrelevent speculation posing as a sophisticated and legitimate question. No doubt More would have taken the party line and gone with St. Augustine in the minds of many. keepin mid that in it's Greek form the word "utopia" means no place.
F: How would 'God's own servant' view the avant garde Catholicism of Liberation Theology of today?
Qx: I would hope that he did have a conscience and viewed it positively. Even though I've had a rancorous debate over Catholicism it's quite evident to me that Liberation Theology may be the only saving grace of the contemporary Catholoic Church.
