It makes little real difference. You benefitted, maybe someone else was replaced by what had, until that point, been a marginally more expensive machine and now is marginally cheaper than the labor. The value is low because setting it at $10 an hour would banckrupt the country, and its also set low so that inflation and ecnonomic rises in wage can cover its meagre difference within a few months before it does any real damage.

Only if I can be as loose with my definitions as socialists are with the terms 'capitalism' and 'free trade'.

No, I think its unreasonable there - I dont think "its" working - unless the intention was to breed bubbling frustration and venting anger at society, parents and the future in general. It is buggering things up though.
