SDF: One recalls that the entire Reagan cabinet joined the Trilateral Commission at the time of Reagan's election, but not Ronnie. Maybe they thought he was too stupid. They did take the nuclear button away from him for some time during his Presidential career. Maybe it was that "the bombing will begin in five minutes" joke.
Maybe it was that important cabinet meeting he missed, so he could watch "The Sound of Music" with Nancy. Or maybe it was that office compromise he arranged between Shultz and Weinberger that resulted in the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut. Or maybe it was just a stupidity of convenience -- "Mistakes were made" about weapons and cocaine deals made to kidnap Nicaraguan civilians, and that's all he knew?
