precisely the problem, how about no political parties

Thats the worry under any system - including mandated - what if the above scenario played out with the mandate system - no broken promises. he promised to be a tyrant and enough people wanted him to be. Hard luck for the rest of us.

: It's just a suggestion but if we had activist democracy, EG the presnt system but with everyone interested and acknowledging that rather than being a core politics (including whether or not your left or right wing) is a mark of the good life, I don't think it'd be that bad and decentralisation is almost guaranteed.

One way might be to have NO political parties, only representatives.
