Every defect which the capitalists can point to in socialism can also be found in capitalism. It is in the interests of the monopolistic capitalists to maximize their freedom by minimizing the freedom of everybody else.
A capitalistic democratic state has more reason, and need, to control every aspect of the consumer-voter's life than a socialistic authoritarian state has to control its citizens. The absolutely necessary trade off for increased political freedom is decreased personal freedom. What is most disturbing about all of this is that the guinea pigs of this great totalitarian capitalist experiment are selling off real personal freedoms in exchange for illusory political freedoms.
