: Lets leave broader concepts alone for a while, and get on with Real politik-: They're electing a new pres in Yankland next year- and it looks like its gonna be a race between the SPawn of Satan and a Block of Wood- sorry, George Bush Junior, and Al Gore.
SDF: Gore's campaign is in disarray, whereas George W. is running upon a platform of nothing and has raked in maybe $40,000,000 by now. George W. serves in his current job as a stand-in for the Republican Party of Texas, which is a tool of the Christian Right. I rather suspect that Bush has already certified that he will comply with the shadow government, and thus won't be assassinated next year. Please check with the publications of the Trilateral Commission, will you, if he's on the new members list that means he's received the go-ahead to become President. Any speculation on what crimes he'll commit when he's elected?
The Christian Right's main policy plank, though, is its opposition to legalized abortion, but since abortion is considered a constitutional right out here, what they've mainly been doing is declaring war upon abortion providers, with significant success. They don't need Bush in their pocket to do that sort of thing, though.
: Anyone got any thoughts on either contender (or any outsider candidates), any ideas what 'Compassionate Conservativsm means?), or what either person winnning might mean electorally for the World?
SDF: Well here is one definition of "compassionate conservatism"... I have to wonder how low voter turnout will be in November of 2000, with two extremely dull corporate candidates standing for exactly the same things, and no serious opposition from third parties. As a rule I don't vote for Demopublicans or Republicrats.
