The relevancy of Marx

I agree. It's too bad that so many discredit Marx on the basis that his predictions haven't come true the way he described them. Marx was a great thinker, but a lousy prophet. Lenin's attempts to short cut the necessary steps are, I think, misguided.

Marx was right on a couple of his predictions, though, even if the time frame was all wrong. That capitalism is now consuming the entire world marketplace is something that he said would happen, and it's only after this that the proletariat can rise, I think, and probably not in the States. Though his recognition of the creative powers of capitalism were on the mark, he was constrained my a nineteenth century sensibility, so he could never have understood, say, the impact that computers and television would have.

But your central premise, that Marx is more relevant now than ever, is one that I certainly agree with.
