: So really the goal should be making everyone richer

SDF: That's YOUR goal, Gee. Since you don't believe in collectivism, Gee, and have made numerous protests to that effect, I can at this point gleefully respond: speak for yourself.

My own goal is a sustainable society, one that won't wilt (in my lifetime) through overexploitation If you live in my neighborhood you might see me, each morning, riding a bicycle amidst crowds of speeding Americans, busy running their cars down. I'm sure I'll be able to "force" lots of people to think, from the totalitarian perspective of my bicycle seat (LOL!).

Since I DO believe in collectives, I might argue; instead of accelerating the exploitation process merely to please the "need" of the well-off to keep up with the Joneses in a high-intensity high-consumption society, WE might consider the lessons of Easter Island... thus WE would all do well to consider the long-term effects of the processes WE use to achieve our destructive version of "wealth"...

And in the process we might avoid confusing the strivings of those who wish to merely wish to eat well with those doing the planning to improve the profit margins of Disney...
