It should be pointed out that Cuba was supported and financed
by the FSU.
A good case in point was the incomplete building of a nuclear
reactor(s) by the Soviets there in Cuba. Castro has said he
was determined to finish it and staff it with Cubans.
I wouldn't want to live within a good 500 mi. radius of
Cuba if Castro gets it up and running, for obvious reasons.
We could say here that Castro's nationalistic hubris
could very well be disatrous.
