: Kevin,: Before comparing Samuel Day Fassbinder to Hitler or Stalin, there are a couple of things you should be aware of:
: 1) Hitler rounded up Socialists and Communists while leaving the Capitalist Infrastructure virtually untouched. (Uncle Sam rounded up Socialists and Communists starting in 1919 with the Palmer raids, and continued them while Hitler did the same.) Hitler adopted the name "National Socialist" to deliberately differentiate his ultra-nationalist regime from "International Socialism", a very real concern for every ultra -nationalist at the time.
What is your point mike? Does this paragraph you have extracted from a book you once read and remember a few facts to indicate the overall view of Hitler's actions, theories and practices..Or is this simply another way for you to pull out a small portion of history to serve your own context?
: 2) Stalin did not "force" the revolution, he merely capitalized on it, with a second revolution. Striking women (the 'bread' strike) and men fed up with 4 years of trench warfare in WWI filled the streets to protest, and the Czar had ordered troops to fire on them. They refused, and instead shot their officers, and the revolution quickly started. Stalin did not take power until the interim government was overthrown. Read up on the subject before you go off half-cocked.
Are you the only person that knows anything about the russion revolution? Look into Stalin's relationship with Lenin and Trotsky and his role in the initial revolution as well...placing these things out of context is nothing more that a clever way to confuse an argument....come on mike, you can do better than that...
