There are several problems with your arguments. One that can not go unaddressed is your addition of a largely normative ideal to empirical historical events without even being aware of it. Citing that "Socialism" is a failure because the Soviet Union collapsed is a poor generalization, a misinterpretation of history, and ideologically unsound (especially considering the deviation from Socialism of most Soviet regimes). It is like saying that capitalism is a failure because the Asian Tigers are doing poorly right now. What's important to learn from Socialism is the manner in which the world progresses through stages of growth and stagnation in different parts, due to the changing relations between individuals, countries, and the material world. Spending 80% of the national revenue on arms (like the USSR did) is not a Socialist prescription.
