Rather than continue to pick at your rebuttals point by point, agreeing here, disagreeing there, puzzling it out elsewhere, allow me to share with you an epiphany I had last night:We need to eliminate the class system from human society
To which you are no doubt thinking, duh....However, you've been mulling all this over for years (presumably). I've been doing the same on animal rights, but have only recently turned serious mental attention to economic systems, despite my flaming liberalism and environmentalism and general contrariness. By whatever subtle mental processes were at work, it finally clicked last night: We need to eliminate the class system from human society
However, I would phrase the crie de coeur somewhat differently from you. Whereas you would rally behind "The Class Struggle!," I would rally behind, "The Struggle to End Classes!" That's because the former implies that there is only antagonism between the classes, whereas the latter recognizes that there are middle class people like myself, and even some upper class people, who are eager to see the class system end, even if it is detrimental to our own interests (in the short term, and perhaps even the long term, but I believe we need to think of the well-being of future generations, even if it means substantial sacrifice on our own part).
So, were are more or less in agreement at this point.
The obvious question, then, is how to eliminate classes? You look to Marx, and you may be right, but at this point I'm not ready to agree just yet. The only way I'll know for sure is to read the material for myself and mull it over. Ditto other alternative theories, such as anarchism and different theories of socialism/communism. You and the other sages here can assist by pointing out the references, but consuming and digesting the information is something only I can do for myself.
Therefore, I'm going to quit commenting on things I'm basically ignorant of, like Marxism, etc. I'll continue to rant about those things I do know, like the failings of U.S. foreign policy, etc., and animal/environmental matters, but that's it.
One unsolicited word of advise: when I first joined this board and started challenging your posts, you were very quick to respond with sarcasm and insults. That's something I do also, as you've seen. But the thing about most people is, when they're attacked, they get angry. When they get angry, they get defensive, and they stop listening to you, and even dismiss what you have to say. So, take that as you will, but it harkens to one of my favorite old-time aphorisms: you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.
